Sectional League Cup

18/08/08: Lanark tonight continued their good recent record at Gasworks Park by beating Larkhall Thistle 2-0 thanks to strikes by Grant Cuthill and Kieron Downs and now top section one by three points from Thistle. Should they avoid a home defeat by Stonehouse Violet on Wednesday, the Yowes will qualify for the quarter finals of the SLC, where they are likely to face Renfrew at Moor Park in a repeat of last season's Central League Cup quarter final, when the visitors won by the only goal.  


Clydesdale Cup Champs

05/08/08: Lanark last night retained the Clydesdale Cup trophy, emerging triumphant on penalties after a poor 90 minutes ended goalless. See latest match page. 


Clydesdale Cup

30/07/08: Lanark hammered Lesmahagow 8-0 in the Clydesdale Cup semi last night to set up a repeat of last year's final against Forth Wanderers on Monday 4th August. This time however the game will be played at Forth's ground.  


Maryhill Tournament

27/07/08: Lanark beaten 1-3 in Sunday's final against hosts Maryhill. 


Cup Dates

25/06/08:  This year's Clydesdale Cup final will take place on Monday, 4th August at either Carluke or Forth. Looking further ahead, should Lanark top their league cup section they would play the winner of group seven (Greenock/Johnstone Burgh/Pt Glasgow/Renfrew/Vale of Leven) on Wednesday 27th August, ko 6.30. And even further ahead, the Scottish cup trail will begin again with round one on Saturday 4 October.


Friendly result

19/07/08: Lanark thrashed St Roch's 4-0 at Provanmill Park in their first pre-season warm-up game. The scoreline suitably reflected the gap of two leagues between the sides. Goals by Middleton, Miles, Mc Guire & Trialist.  


Pre-season programme 

01/07/08: Lanark will prepare for the new season in the superleague by taking part in a four team Maryhill tournament before facing SPL big spenders Irvine Meadow at Moor Park on Saturday 2nd August. For more details, see fixtures page.


New season fixtures

26/06/08: Lanark will open the new superleague season with an away game at Hurlford Utd on Saturday 23 August. First competitive game however will be at home to Lesmahagow in the sectional league cup on Wednesday 6 August. Full list of fixtures can be found here.


Player Ins and Outs

13/06/08: LUFC spoke to manager Tony Mc Inally today. Here's what he told the website re the situation with players re-signing or leaving...

Tony Mc Inally: "We've managed to retain the majority of the players we wanted to sign- Craig Brown, Paul Burns, David Middleton, Davy Gray, Craig Stark, Tom Hanlon, Grant Cuthill, Tommy Franch & Craig Miles. We've made offers to Kieron Downs and Darren Jaffray, we want those two to stay and Mark Keegans is coming for pre-season training with a view to signing. Stranraer have come in for John Osborne. We've agreed to listen to offers for Tommy Mc Guigan, and we've let Stevie Mc Cluskey and Andy Hunter go."
